Darts -
It felt like this week the energy was a little down. The weather wasn't great, the tri-meet got canceled, we had to stay late with a Junior High meet, and we were coming off of a great week with the Davis Invite. I am not trying to give us any excuses, but I did notice that there was not a lot of passion in our practices and meets this week. I know that I was a little worn down, and I am sure that many of you were as well.
With only 3 big weeks left, we cannot afford to have another week like this past week. It is time to show up mentally and physically to every remaining practice and every remaining meet. We have to bring energy and excitement to everything we do over the final 3 weeks. I want to see some enormous prs at the Roy meet, at BYU, and at the Region Meet. We are finally to the part of the season that we have worked so hard through the whole year for. I hope that you will all take full advantage of your remaining opportunities and that you leave the season satisfied with your efforts and without any regrets.
The main thing this past week was the Woods Cross Invitational. It seemed kind of quiet at the meet (felt more like a tri-meet), but we were still able to get a few prs and a couple of state qualifying marks. Sylvia Harrison qualified for state in the 100m hurdles, Lauren Stringham qualified in the high jump, and Ben Poulson and Brad Nye qualified in the 800m dash. We also saw some improvements from Kenzie Harrison in the 300m hurdles, Michelle Clark in the javelin, Missy Lott in the 400m, Julia Anderson and Megan Parker in the 800, Sarah Parker in the 1600, Bridger Parkin in the long jump, Mark Lindstrom in the discus, Alex Swapp in the javelin, Miles Flake in the shot put, Greg Tanner in the 400 and the 800, Austin Allred, Nate Lee, Clayton Swenson, and Dan Wybrow in the 800, Matt Munns and Joe White in the 3200, Ben Keaton and Troy Hinds in the 200m, and Brandon Farnsworth in the 100. Coming Up:
Tri Meet at Roy High - Wednesday, April 28 - the bus will be leaving at 1:30. You are excused at 1:15. It is our last chance to get our marks improved for the region entries. You qualify for region by being top 32 in your event. I am not sure if it is totally updated, but the region rankings should be posted at www.regiononetrack.blogspot.com
BYU Invite - Friday and Saturday (April 30-May 1) - The meet will begin at 10:00am both days. We will be handing out a schedule for the meet, including our entries, tomorrow (Monday) at practice. We were able to put 24 boy entries and 24 girl entries into the meet. (We would have liked to enter more of you). The bus will leave at 7:30am both Friday and Saturday. We will return around 6:00pm both days. The excused list will have anyone competing listed. If any of you would like to come down on either day to support the TEAM, you are invited to do so. We only have 1 bus, so some of you may need to find your own transportation. If you would like to be excused on Friday, I will need to know before Thursday at noon. We encourage all to come down and watch the meet. Admission is $5.
Region Championships - Wednesday & Thursday (May 5-6) @ Syracuse High School. Details will be handed out and emailed out at the end of this week.
State Championships - Friday & Saturday (May 14-15) - @ BYU.
I hope that you all had a great time at prom (those who went) and that you enjoyed the weekend. I also hope that you are rested and ready to hit it hard for the final three weeks. Thanks for all that you have each contributed to the TEAM.
I will see you on Monday.
Coach Talley
