Track Update - March 21

Darts -
After my email yesterday (which I hope you made the time to read), I don't have a whole lot more to say, except that I hope we can continue to move forward with a positive attitude and with a lot of TEAM work. It really has been a great start to the season. The meet at Fremont went very well - especially as the first meet of the season. The overall boys scores ended up as Davis 115, Clearfield 33, and Fremont 30. The overall girls scores were Davis 117, Fremont 44, and Clearfield 6. First place finishes came from Tanner Hinds - 100m, Ben Keaton - 200m, Kyler Sprague - 110h & 300h, Brad Nye - 800m, Austin Neuner - 1600m, Jeff Taylor - 3200m, Alec Pectol - HJ, Gabe Betancourt - Pole Vault, Dani Figgins - 100m & 200m, Tara Anderson - 400m, Jessie Wilding - 800m, Meghan Hedquist - 1600m, Sylvia Harrison - 100h, Sarah Oldham - 300h, Lauren Stringham - HJ, Tara Timothy - Javelin, and all 6 relay teams for the boys and girls. Some impressive prs came from Spencer Rudolph in the shot and disc, Dalton Facer and Joshua Winslow in the 110 hurdles, Adam Seelos and Jacob Reid in the 300m hurdles, Kyle Green and Jacob Cluff in the 100m, Chris Bodkin in the 200m, Joe Valentine in the 800m, Matt Munns, Adam Mathias, Logan Wood, and Austin Allred in the 1600m, Cody Robbins and James Stenquist in the 3200m, McKenna Hill, Brittany Beecher and all the girls in the 100m hurdles, Kayla Sagers in the 100m, Madi Holt in the 800m, and Abby Frodsham and Sarah Parker in the 1600m.

We are always looking for people to step up and surprise in any area, but particularly this year in the boys 200 and 400, and in the girls field events. Keep working hard and compete with energy and confidence.

Athletes of the Week:

Coach Steve Petty - for his strong finish in the Moab 1/2 Marathon (1:38)

This Week:
Monday 3/22 - 1:00pm - Practice at the Track. We will also be setting up and preparing for the Super Meet.
Tuesday 3/23 - 3:00pm - Girls Super Meet. The entries are attached to this email and will also be posted in the display case. Those on the TEAM who are not in the A-day class will be excused at 2:00 to come out and prepare. Some of the better girls teams in the region and the state will be there. Let's put on a great meet and perform like we are Darts.
Wednesday 3/24 - 3:00pm - Boys Super Meet. The entries are attached to this email and will also be posted in the display case. The entire TEAM (boys and girls) will be excused at 1:30 to set up and prepare for the meet. We will start with a boys TEAM meeting in the TEAM room at 1:45. If anyone has a class they can get out of a little early to help, we will have some work to do. Some of the top boys teams in the region and state will be in attendance.
Friday 3/26 - will be a key workout for the week - let's have better TEAM attendance than last Friday.
Saturday 3/27 - we will be meeting for practice - time TBA.

*If you are not listed on the attached list, it could be for one of many reasons - attendance, eligibility, or lack of competition so far. It is also a state qualifying meet, and we are not able to have our entire TEAM compete at the meet. If you feel that we have missed you, but you should be competing in the meet, please email or talk to me or Coach West (westjamie2@gmail.com)

*Davis Invite Sponsors - I will continue to talk about the Davis Invite Sponsors. We now have 2 weeks to try to get as many sponsors as we can. Once again, it is our primary fundraiser for the year. In order to sponsor an event at the Invite, the family or business pays $100 to the program. They will be given a t-shirt, 2 free lunch tickets, and their name will be in the program, will be announced when the event is run, and will be on the back of the Invite T-shirts. Let me know if you or your parents have any questions.

Many teams in the state began this last week with the Coaches Invitational. It is looking to be quite a battle for the state championships once again - with the usual teams involved - Riverton, Syracuse, Davis. Our hard work, commitment, sacrifice, focus, and team work is what will make the difference.
No Regrets.
Thanks,
Coach Talley
