Darts -
It was another great week of track and field. We only had one meet this week - up at Weber High School. As I said on Thursday, I am very impressed and excited about your energy and excitement that you bring to track meets. There is a lot of positive energy on this TEAM when we are at track meets - and I love it. If you feel like you are not bringing that energy and helping the TEAM out - practice that this week. We have 2 meets and some other opportunities to really work together as a TEAM. Try a new event again this week - there were some surprise performances up at Weber and I would like to see a few more of those this week against Layton.
If you are still coming to practice and competing, you have made it to the best part of the track season. We will be busy, but we are going to have a lot of fun over the final 5 weeks. I encourage you to work as hard as you can, to be positive, and to believe in yourselves and in each other. All of the work that we have done up to this point through indoor and outdoor has been to prepare us for now - to show that we are champions. I want to have a great showing this week at Woods Cross - next week at Davis Invitational - the following week at BYU - then Region - and wrapping up the season with 2 more State Championships. It is in us. Be positive and focused and let's get after it.
I will post the results from the Weber Meet at www.darttrack.blogspot.com
We have something every day this next week . . .
Monday 3:15 - Kaysville Jr. High Track Clinic - helping the young kids get started. I will need some help (esp. from the field event athletes) after the track class workouts. Basically just teaching them some of the basics and helping them feel excited for track.
Tuesday 2:45 - TEAM pictures in the bleachers. Don't forget your uniforms.
Wednesday 3:00 - Dual meet versus Layton High @ Davis
Thursday 3:00 - Jr. High Track Meet with 4 junior high teams - We will need all of your help doing your normal jobs. If you stay and help to the end (about 6:00) We will buy pizza for you - although you might want to also eat something a little more healthy for dinner because of the meet at Woods Cross the next day. I expect extra help from those who are not competing at the Woods Cross meet (and still help from those who are competing at the Woods Cross meet).
Friday 3:00 - Woods Cross Invitational - those of you competing will be going down at 1:00 (excused from all of 4th period which is the track class for most of you). We have to leave at 1:00 because the buses will have other 'early out' routes to take care of. Those of you not competing will be working out hard during the track class (or after school) and are then encouraged to come down to Woods Cross High School and watch/support your teammates. I will post the list of those competing on Monday.
Saturday - NO PRACTICE. Distance runners go out for 40-60 easy minutes on your own or in groups.
Davis Track Apparel - I still have some warmups and t-shirts I am trying to sell. Warmups are $35 for jackets and $30 for pants. T Shirts are $10. Pay in the office. I have medium - 2XL jackets; large - XL pants; and all sizes of shirts.
Davis Invitational Sponsors - I am making one last appeal for Davis Invitational sponsors (the paperwork is attached to this email). We still need about 15 sponsorships. The distance and hurdle races have been taken. Some of the relays, and most of the sprint/field events are still available. Please try to find a $100 or $50 sponsor for the meet. In order to get their names on the t-shirts, I will need to know on Thursday at the latest. Let me know if you have any questions with the sponsorships.
Remaining Track Schedule:
Wed April 18 - Layton @ Davis
Fri April 20 - Woods Cross Invite
Wed April 25 - Davis @ Northridge

Wed May 2 - Davis @ Fremont
Fri-Sat May 4-5 - BYU Invitational
Wed-Thurs May 9-10 - Region Championships

Thanks for all you do. Thanks for making this a great track program. Keep working hard and having fun -
Coach Talley
