Dart Update - BYU Invitational

Darts and Parents -
I wish I had more time to go over all of our highlights from the BYU Invitational, but my email this week is going to be a quick one. Both the boys and the girls competed very well over the weekend. The boys came away with the victory - scoring 80.5 points to beat both Riverton and Syracuse who scored 51 each. Those will be the same teams coming after us at the state meet. The girls finished in 2nd place by just 1 point behind Bingham. The girls suffered a big loss when Sylvia went out with a hamstring injury after the 100m dash trials on Friday. We are not sure yet whether she will be able to race at the state meet. We are going to do a lot of physical therapy and we are going to keep hoping, but we won't really know until the days before the state meet. The girls did a great job stepping up and competing hard in Sylvia's absence - and we will need to do that once again at the region championships, and possibly the state championships.
Our individual highlights of the meet included: Brad Nye winning the 800m in a state record 1:51.89; The boys 3200 runners with 4 boys in the top 8 all running sub 9:30 (Alex Hedquist - 5th, Brayden Cromar - 6th, Andrew Aposhian - 7th, Logan Wood - 8th); Brayden Cromar and Skylar Williams with a 2-4 finish in the 1600m; Seth Fortin running 10.96 for 3rd in the 100m and 22.04 for 4th in the 200m; Trevor Leavitt dipping under 49 in the 400 for 4th place (48.95); the boys 4 x 100 with a victory in 42.81; all three of our pole vaulters placing in the top 8 (Chris Reid, Isaac McKean, and Trace Arbon); and Marcus Daley taking 3rd in the high jump with 6'04.
For the girls, we had a 1-2-3 finish in the 800m with Shea Martinez (2:11), Ellie Child (2:15) and Taylor Cox (2:19); Addy Jones finished 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a pr 14.83; Christine Van Brocklin was 4th in the 100m hurdles and stepped up for us in running the 4 x 100 for Sylvia; Jeni Christensen with a 3rd place finish in the pole vault; Taylor Cox with a huge pr in the 1600m (5:12); Kaylee Brown and Jessica Richardson finished 7-8 in the discus; Bailey Carling was 8th in the 100m dash - and ran tough despite a lot of shin pain; and the girls 4 x 400m relay had a strong 2nd place finish in 3:59. There were many other prs and strong performances. Full results can be found at www.runnercard.com
