Davis Track Update - Week 7

Darts -
We had a solid week last week with the Fremont meet and the Arcadia Invitational (CA). We are down to only a handful of weeks left in the season. The focus from here out becomes staying determined and hungry for PRs and self improvement. Learn from every meet and go into every event with a goal to do something great. Approach the meets on Wednesday and Friday this week with confidence in the work you are doing and excitement for the opportunity to prove yourselves. Also remember that you are competing against other people - but more importantly you are competing against yourself.

Arcadia Invitational - We had a small group travel to Arcadia, CA this past weekend for one of the biggest, most competitive meets in the country. It is always very inspiring to watch our athletes compete with some of the best in the nation. We came home with a ton of PRs and Davis all-time marks:
Josh Ward - 9:14 in the 3200m (Davis #5 All-Time, U.S. #83)
Logan MacKay - 4:21.61 in the mile (Davis #  , U.S. #62)
Taylor Cox - 4:54 in the mile (Davis #3 All-Time, U.S. #14) and 2:13 in the 800m (Davis #2 All-Time, and U.S. #21).
Trevor Leavitt - 48.26 in the 400m Dash (Currently U.S. #11 with his 47.69)
Aubrey Argyle - 10:49 in the 3200m (Davis #3 All-Time, U.S. #79)
Kenzie Weir - 10:58 in the 3200m (Davis #5 All-Time)
Hannah Albrechtsen - 5:06 in the mile (Davis #6 All-Time)
Boys Distance Medley Relay (Logan, Trevor, Skylar, Josh) - 10:26 (Davis #2 All-Time, U.S. #19)
Girls Distance Medley Relay (Taylor, Miah, Josey, Hannah) - 12:16 (Davis #4 All-Time, U.S. #18)
Girls 4 x 1600m Relay (Josey, Tatum, Ally, and Hannah) - 21:16 (Davis School Record, U.S. #11)

Davis Invitational Sponsors - We are doing okay with the sponsors - but we still have spots left for about 15 events to be sponsored. In order to get the sponsor names on the shirt - they would have to be turned in by tomorrow (Tuesday) at practice. There are $50 and $100 sponsor options. The sponsor paper is attached to this email.

These next 2 weeks are extremely busy weeks for Davis Track & Field:

Wednesday, April 16 - Syracuse @ Davis. It is a dual meet - you can choose the events you would like to compete in. Remember that these meets may not count for state qualifying, but they do count for region qualifying. (The region qualifying procedure is based on rankings from marks set at all the meets throughout the year). The meet will begin at 3:00pm. You are all excused at 1:45pm. If you need to stay in class and come out after school - that would be fine. I have attached the schedule for the meet. EVERYONE gets to compete.

Thursday, April 17 - Junior High Meet. We are hosting for Kaysville, Centennial, Farmington, and Bountiful. We will need all of your help. The meet should go from 3:00-6:00.

Friday, April 18 - Woods Cross Invitational. We are able to enter our top 4 athletes in the lane and field events, and our top 6 athletes in the distance events. I will post the schedule and entries at practice on Tuesday (tomorrow). The Woods Cross Invite starts at 3:30 on Friday. There will be about 8 schools at the meet.

Wednesday, April 23 - Weber @ Davis. Another dual meet where EVERYONE on the team gets to compete. We will run the same schedule that is attached to this email.

Thursday, April 24 - Mandatory Davis Invite Meeting for all athletes (and volunteers). We will be reviewing the procedures (rules and other officiating duties) for the Davis Invitational.

Saturday, April 26 - The Davis Invitational. This is our biggest event of the season. Not everyone will get to compete - but we will need everyone's help at the meet. It goes from 9:00am-6:00pm. Everyone needs to be at the school at 7:00am. Please arrange your schedules so you can be there. I will need to know in advance if you are not able to make it.

Thanks in advance for all of your help. We are really getting into the best part of the season. Keep working hard, stay focused on doing your best and setting PRs, and show a lot of pride in being a part of Davis Track & Field.

Thanks
Coach Talley
