March 17 Update

ALUMNI/INTRASQUAD MEET
The weather was a little cold, but at least it was dry as the athletes turned in some solid performances at the annual Alumni/Intrasquad meet. It was great to have some of our alumni come - many of them are currently competing as college athletes, and many of them are still in pretty decent shape. It was nice to see the graduates and great to have them give some help and advice to some of our young athletes.
Former Lady Darts captured titles with Krista Larson winning discus (117'07) and the shot put (35'07) after having helped us with coaching during her spring break week. Leslie McKay won the pole vault (7'00). Leslee Hyer Wilson won the javelin with a toss of 92'04. And Erica Christensen just missed winning the 300 hurdles (50.26). The alumni also put together 2 relay teams to finish 4th and 5th. Seniors capturing first places were: Kristen Billings, 100m dash (13.13) and 200m dash (28.36); Amy Rees, High Jump (4'10), and Loren Storey, Long Jump (13'11); Juniors winning events were Brooke Jensen, 100 hurdles (16.02) and 300 hurdles (49.62), Chelsea Jackson, 400m dash (1:02.61), Candace Eddy, 1600m run (5:16.1), Talya Kussee 800m run (2:37.0) and Julianne Wirthlin tied for 1st in the 3200m run (12:44.3); the lone Sophomore to win an event was Emily Hansen, 3200m run (12:44.3). In TEAM scoring, the juniors barely edged out the seniors 73 to 69.
To the coaches, the most impressive part of the meet for the TEAM, on both the girls and the boys side, was the improvements from last year. Many athletes showed what a year of work can do.
On the boys side, the alumni captured only one 1st place. Jeff Agnello won the pole vault clearing 13'06. Seniors winning events were: Bryce Hall, shot put (55'08.50) and discus (153'03); Shaun Webb, 110m hurdles (15.84) and 300m hurdles (42.2); Tandin Chapman, javelin - 1st time ever (146'06); Spencer Anderson, 800m run (2:08.7) and 1600m run (4:44.0); and Bryce Larsen, 3200m run (10:51.1). The juniors had some big wins from Ryan Avery, 200m dash (23.14), high jump (5'10) and long jump (20'05); Taylor Carling won the 100 (11.26); and Benson Richards won the 400 (52.25). In boys TEAM scoring, the Juniors barely beat the seniors 88-83, a good sign for this year and for the future.
Thanks to all those that helped out and supported the TEAM. Complete results can be found at: www.darttrack.blogspot.com.
