March 31 Update

DARTS SWEEP 15th SUPER MEET
This was a good week for Davis Track and Field. With 10 of the top teams in the state competing, both boys and girls defended their titles at the 15th Annual Super Meet held at Davis. It showed that once again, Davis will be ready to compete for Region and State titles in May. The number and quality of the performances was impressive. PR’s were in abundance: Alan Dixon, one-foot in the pole vault, Luke Allred, 30 feet in the discuss, Brittany Dickson breaking 100 feet in the javelin, Loren Storey breaking 15 feet in the long jump, and Jenny Welling running 63.04 in the 400, are just a few examples.
The girls racked up 191 points to easily run away from closest pursuers Viewmont (89), Fremont (83), Bountiful (61) and Taylorsville (50). The boys were equally impressive as they finished with 203 points to outdistance Fremont (129), Box Elder (83) Bingham (79) , and Viewmont (65).
For the Lady Darts, meet MVP Candace Eddy won the 1600m run (5:02.14#), and the 3200m run in a new meet record (11:17.18#). Candace was followed closely in both races by Natalie Haws (5:08.23# / 11:32.18#). Brooke Jensen was the only other individual champion capturing the 100m hurdles (15.51#). All 4 relays finished in 1st place: 4 x 100 of Brooke Jensen, Dani Figgins, Missy Lott, and Kristen Billings (50.29#); Medley Relay of Kristen Billings, Kelsey Datwyler, Loren Storey, and Talya Kussee (4:29.19); 4 x 400 of Chelsea Jackson, Rachel Jackson, Missy Lott, and Jessica Wilding (4:14.32); and the 4 x 800 relay of Loren Storey, Ashley Ballard-Sume, Hollie King, and Talya Kussee (10:28.0).
Other Lady Dart placers included:
HIGH JUMP: 8. 5'00# Amy Rees. LONG JUMP: 3. 15'01.00 Loren Storey. SHOT PUT: 3. 34'02.00 Betsy McCausland, 8. 31'08.00 Ali Blake. DISCUS: 6. 92'01 Brooke Knowles. JAVELIN: 2. 104'02 Brittany Dickson. 100m HURDLES: 8. 18.24 Britin Storey. 300m HURDLES: 3. 48.12 Chelsea Jackson, 4. 48.97 Brooke Jensen, 5. 49.21 Rachel Jackson. 200m DASH: 5. 27.05 Dani Figgins. 400m RUN: 4.1:03.04 Jenni Welling, 7. 1:05.56 Tiffani Lowry, 8. 1:05.96 Brittany Sumsion. 800m RUN: 2. 2:28.94 Jessica Wilding, 3. 2:29.58 Ally Adams, 4. 2:30.71 Hollie King. 1600m RUN: 6. 5:25.46 Loren Storey. 3200m RUN: 3. 12:03.60 Julianne Wirthlin, 4. 12:08.70 Katie Swanson, 5. 12:08.77 Emily Hansen. Bryce Hall had a great meet for the Darts. His #57'11.00" throw in the shot put was just shy of the meet record and the Outstanding Performance of the meet. He also won the discus with a toss of 161'04"#. The only other individual champion was Spencer Anderson in the 1600m with a PR of 4:35.25. Benson Richards, Jon Ferguson, Ben Keaton, and Derek Gallacher won the Medley relay in 3:48.2. I feel the most impressive part of the meet for the Darts was to score 203 points with only 4 1st place finishes. It shows a TEAM effort won the meet for us. On both the boys and the girls TEAMs we scored in every event.
