Track Update - The Davis Invite

Darts -
I hope you were all able to rest a bit and recover from all the hard work and great performances on Saturday. The Davis Invite was a huge success, despite less than perfect weather conditions. I want to thank each one of you who showed up and helped throughout the day. It honestly went as smooth as any Davis Invite I can remember. I also want to thank your parents for all the help with the luncheon and other preparation for the invite. If you left a salad bowl or anything else, they will be out at practice tomorrow. The marks weren't anything phenomenal because of the weather, but I hope most teams (and individuals) leave the Davis Invite with respect and admiration for our program and our ability to work together to put on a high quality track meet. It takes a lot to do that, and our TEAM totally delivered. Lastly, I want to thank the coaching staff, former athletes, and the parents who volunteered all day at the meet as officials.

We did have some very strong performances: Jaron Erickson won the 110 Hurdles and finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles - both with season best times. Matt Calvin won the pole vault (Friday) with a new PR of 15'04. Xakai Harry won the boys long jump in the heavy rain with 21'01. Logan MacKay won the mile with an outdoor PR of 4:12.47. Colter Blanchard was 3rd in the mile with 4:19. Hunter SImonsen finished 2nd in the high jump and 5th in the 110 Hurdles. Nate Allred was 3rd in the high jump. Taylor Southwick won the open 110 hurdles with 15.97 into a major tailwind. And we had a ton of other PRs and season bests. The boys also won 3/4 relays - with victories in the medley relay (Riley - Sawyer - Jake - Logan), the 4 x 400 (McGyver - Jaron - Logan - Jake), and the 4 x 800 (Frasier - Bryce - Camren - Colter). For the girls, Ruby Jane finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles, Melanie Sullivan finished 3rd in the 400m, Megan Rowe finished 4th in the 100 hurdles, Courtney Wayment and Ally Geisler finished 4th and 5th in the 1600m, Alicia Stucki was 2nd in the open javelin, and our relays were solid - the medley was 3rd (Brittney - Gabi - Jenna - Ally), the 4 x 400 was 2nd (BriAnna - Ruby Jane - Megan - Melanie), and the 4 x 800 was 1st (Jenna - Miah - Ally - Courtney). Congrats to our newly state qualified group - Kenzie and Emma in the discus, Kristin in the pole vault, Courtney and Ally in the 1600, Logan, Colter, and Bryce in the 1600, Camren in the 3200, and both medley relay teams.

Davis @ Viewmont - Great Job on Wednesday (in the nice weather) as well. I have attached the results from Viewmont to this email. I will update the performance list on line this week.

Upcoming Week:
TEAM Pictures (Tuesday) in the bleachers at 2:45. Don't forget your uniforms!! We don't have enough extra to hand out. Girls in black spandex (or tights) or black or gold shorts, Boys the same (I guess). This is for the yearbook. Please try to make it.

Granger @ Davis (Wednesday) - Davis at 3:00pm. Most of the athletes competing at Woods Cross will not compete on Wednesday against Granger.

Thursday - Woods Cross Invite Javelin and Pole Vault (hosted by Davis) at 3:00pm.

Woods Cross Invitational (Friday) - I will send out some details about this meet. We are only allowed to enter 4 athletes per field event and lane race and 6 athletes per distance event. Those entries will be posted at practice tomorrow. The meet will be on Friday (4/29) from 3:30-8:00pm.

We are down to the final 4 weeks of the season. It is going to fly by. Please take good care of yourselves. Get your sleep, your nutrition, your hydration, and make sure you are stretching and icing. Keeping ourselves healthy through the final 4 week will make all the difference.

Thanks again for a great Davis Invite!! I am proud of this TEAM.
